Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile cheerleaders as she starts her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to Donald Trump, was granted a tournament invitation to compete at the Annika competition in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, operates several golf courses and regularly matches against Kai.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we play competitive games," she stated.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who cannot attend, advised her: "Just stay calm."
"My grandpa basically advised me to play and enjoy myself," she added.
"In my eyes, he's just a normal grandpa. He can't make it for the tournament. He's busy with running the country, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
As an amateur, Kai has competed in just three tournaments this year and has the 461st position in AJGA listings.
However she's able to get advice from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He stands as the greatest golfer globally," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's an even better person. He told me to compete, relax, adapting to whatever happens."
She'll challenge multiple top competitors in professional golf at the competition, including world number two Nelly Korda, British Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.
The LPGA commented that Kai's presence helps introduce golf to different demographics, particularly with younger fans.
The young star maintains substantial online presence and just introduced a personal apparel and wellness company.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
